Children, Youth, and Families

Many components of ministry at Evergreen revolve around the faith development of families and children. We believe it is important to invest in spiritual development at a young age while also encouraging all ages to interact with one another. You can find all the latest about our children and youth ministries below!

If you have questions please contact Katherine Hatfield (Children's Ministry) or Rev. Ashley Drake Mertz (Youth) by calling the church office at 334-792-7898

How do we define call? We often think of Moses as an obvious example of call, but how do we know what call is if we do not see burning bushes? In this quarter we will look at biblical stories about Daniel, Peter, Hannah, and Mary as we explore three different types of call Daniel shows us how God’s call can work through our own personal values Peter shows how call can take time to develop, and how accepting God’s call does not ensure an easy time Hannah’s and Mary’s responses to God’s promises show us how passion and trust lead to call Their combined stories also show us how Scripture can connect us with our call.

Children 6 weeks through 2 years old are cared for by our nursery care workers, Ms. Melissa and Mrs. Nena while their parents and families attend Sunday School and worship on Sunday mornings. The nursery is available from 9:20am through the end of worship and is located in our Preschool wing. If you need help accessing this area please speak to a church employee or member.

We use the Frolic curriculum for this age group. Frolic is the first curriculum of its kind  to connect developmental and spiritual milestones for the youngest of children—starting at birth.

The Sprouts (Ages 3-Kindergarten) meet immediately following Children's Moment through the end of worship each Sunday morning.  The children will gather in the sanctuary for the beginning of worship then move to our youth suite following the Children's Moment. Parents can pick-up children from the youth suite following worship.

This year we are using the Dig In curriculum for the Sprouts. Over the year they will look at all the major bible stories getting a comprehesive look at their Creator and Jesus!

The Roots (1st-4th grades) meet immediately following Children's Moment through the end of worship each Sunday morning.  The children will gather in the sanctuary for the beginning of worship then move to our youth suite following the Children's Moment for their class. Parents can pick-up children from the youth suite following worship.

Wednesday Night Programs

Beginning Wednesday, September 13

Sprouts, Roots, and Branches

5:30-6:15

Youth Suite

This fall we'll be on an epic adventure alongside some of our favorite Bible heroes as we discover the qualities that make us truly heroic in God.

PYC

6:45-7:45

Youth Suite

This fall we're learning how to Walk the Walk as we embark on a 5 week series in 1 John. 1 John reminds us of the love, grace, and mercy found in Jesus Christ, while also encouraging us to love all people.

Every Wednesday night we gather for a meal together.  Parents and adults gather at 5:30 for a short 15 minute time of bible study and then eat together beginning at 5:45.  Youth join the meal between 6:00-6:15 and all the Hero Central children come to dinner at 6:15pm. This structure allows for adults to socialize and be fed by physically and spirtually before needing to tend to children while they eat. This also allows for adults wishing to participate in 6:30 bible studies to eat without having to rush.

Please RSVP each week for supper by clicking on the button below.
